ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Gov. David Paterson says he backs Rep. Charles Rangel 100 percent as the fellow Democrat faces an ethics case in the House.
Both come from a political powerhouse of Democratic politics in Harlem. Rangel, until recently the House Ways and Means Committee chairman, defended Paterson when he faced his own investigations. Paterson’s role in a domestic violence case involving one of his aides who wasn’t charged with a crime remains under investigation.
On Monday Paterson said Rangel served Harlem and America well.
Rangel is accused of violating House ethics rules for use of congressional stationery to raise money for a university center bearing his name.
