Diabetic Manhattan Man Files Suit Against NYPD

NEW YORK (AP) -- A diabetic man arrested while injecting himself with insulin on a New York City subway has sued the NYPD.

Juan Castillo claimed he went into diabetic shock because he was held for 30 hours without his medication.

The 25-year-old Manhattan man said he was arrested on disorderly conduct for placing his foot on a subway seat last Sept. 17. He says he had to raise his leg to administer the insulin through his pants.

Castillo said he takes insulin five times a day.

A judge later dismissed the charge.

The Daily News said the city's lawyers are reviewing the complaint.
