L.I. Couple Injured After Car Plows Into Blockbuster

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- They were planning to rent an action flick from a Hicksville Blockbuster when the action came alive for a Long Island couple Thursday night.

A car plowed through the entrance of the store around 6:30 p.m. injuring Dean Spinato and Jennifer Kuhl.

Witnesses say the impact of the car sent glass flying "everywhere."

Kuhl said she fell as she turned away from the glass shower and her boyfriend was cut in the face as he too turned away from the shattering glass.

"It scared me, I didn't know what it was, if it was a bomb," Spinato told 1010 WINS. "You're not even thinking what it is but just cover your body and cover your face."

Kuhl was treated for minor injuries at Plainview Hospital. Spinato suffered minor cuts and bruises.

Kuhl says she saw two young women in the blue Volkswagen, one of whom was the driver.

The couple says if the entrance had been a double-door or if the wall surrounding the entrance had not been made of brick, the car would have completely entered the store, likely running them over.

It is not clear if any charges have been filed.
