Giants' Smith Optimistic About Groin Injury

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith says he hopes to return from a groin injury next week.

The four-year veteran who shattered the team record with 107 receptions last season says doctors say that he only suffered a mild strain in practice on Friday.

Smith says that his groin already feels better and his strength is coming back. The Pro Bowler watched practice on Saturday at the University at Albany.
