NEW YORK (WFAN) – Alex Cora joined the Boomer & Carton program on Tuesday morning to talk about his weekend release from the Mets.

“We’re in sports, and you have to perform,” Cora said about his release. “Obviously they expected a little more than a .207 hitter.”

Cora was let go to make room on the roster for youngsters Ruben Tejada and Fernando Martinez.

    You could buy a few good horses for 18 mil! And if they don’t perform on the track you can always use them to pull a load!

    $18,000,000 per year says it all. The Met fans can expect to pay dearly for the tail end of Carlos’s Met contract and in return he has very left to give. Others on the same list are Oliver P, Santana, Jason by the bay, and Louie-Louie. Paying big money for human performance is worse then ponying up cash for a race horse. I

    And second thought: Why is Beltran batting 3rdand 4th since he came back from his BS surgery? They dropped Bay in the order earlier in the season and Francoer from the lineup-does it make sense to you?
