Dina Lohan: Lindsay Will Move Back To New York

NEW YORK (AP) — Lindsay Lohan’s mom says the actress will be moving away from California and back to New York after she gets out of drug rehabilitation.

Dina Lohan, during an interview Friday with Matt Lauer, said her daughter was doing “wonderfully” after 14 days in jail and lashed out at California Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel, who put the actress there.

“She’s great,” Lohan said. “She’s been through a lot. The judge played hardball. Lindsay was in with alleged murderers and she’s become friends with a lot of them. Lindsay rolled with the punches and she’s doing wonderfully.”

Lindsay Lohan served 14 days of a 90-day jail sentence for violating her probation in a 2007 drug case. She was sent to a UCLA drug rehab facility for a court-mandated three-month treatment, and her mother said she’d be out soon.

Revel removed herself from Lohan’s case earlier this week after a prosecutor complained she improperly contacted experts or participants in the case.

Lauer prodded Lohan, noting that there were some observers who thought the 24-year-old actress had this coming to her because of bad behavior.

“I think that’s all propaganda and what people are reading,” she told him. “As you know, you’re in the business of entertainment, so I think a lot of it is pre-orchestrated and you’re reading things that are not based on fact.”

Lauer also asked her about a belief that her daughter was not well-served by those around her, including her parents.

“As a parent, you have to let her go a little bit,” she said. “When she went out to Los Angeles when she was 19, I had to let her go and let her live and fall and fail and survive. Without failure, there’s no success. I was there in close proximity, but you can’t make your child not go out and go to a club and not get behind the wheel of a car. I certainly don’t condone any of that behavior.”

“They’re gonna do what they’re gonna do when they turn 18, 19,” Lohan said. “… And you kind of lose a little power and control, which you want to do for your child. You want to let them go. Without failure, there’s no success.”

Said Lauer: ‘You’re confident she’ll come through it?”

“She’s already through it,” Lohan said.

Michael Lohan said in an interview Friday on CBS’ “The Early Show” that his ex-wife should be out of their daughter’s career “and I shouldn’t be any part of her career. I never was. I never was a manager or anything.”

“I tried to do my best as a father. I made my mistakes. I wound up in jail. … Lindsay certainly paid a price for that,” he said. “… But it’s time to put everything aside. I thought Dina did that. But, obviously, you know, we have some work to do ourselves on this.”

Dina Lohan said she had put her daughter in drug rehab the first time, and argued with Lauer over how many times Lindsay had been in drug treatment.

She said her daughter’s life has been under a microscope because of tabloid interest.

“You can’t blame it all on the tabloids,” Lauer said. “She’s made some wrong decisions.”

Lohan said Lindsay will be coming to New York. California is “a wonderful state,” she said, but “it’s a different game you play there, the court system is a little different.”

    to kossie:

if I have to choose between you and Lindsay … I mean

    ya know …

  • marknyc

if the System cares soooooo much about her then sending her to meet alleged murderers was probably not the best way to show that they care. A movie star in Jail for that probation thing? what was that?

  • Angie

No special treatment here, wake up girl..

Come back to LongIand Lindsey we miss you..

  • Choosy Mother

Those Lohan’s are like a stubborn skidmark that won’t wash out!

  • Joanne

We really dont want her here on the east coast…

    • Rissa Lynn

We don’t want her on ANY coast!!!!

  • kossie

Lord help us all in NYC. One thing we don’t need is Lindsay.
but, maybe NYC will straighten her out, I dont see us as easy going as LA LA Land

  • Mitch Kanner

I saw the interview with Matt Lauer. In my opinion, Dina Lohan should be in the next room at rehab. She places the blame on everyone but where it belongs.

  • Roy

Perfect, she returns to the Drug Capital of the world. At least her coke habit can be fed at a discount !

  • Jocelyn Wildenstein

Luv that upper lip duckbill job, Linz! Too subtle, tho.

  • lilly

Lindsey could have become a murder herself had she got into an accident while driving under the influence.
As far as her going to New York. ugh….Her mom is an enabler …they will be clubbing together.
The Judge probably saved this girls life. No need to come down heavy on her, they should be thanking her. I really don’t think she had a grudge against Lindsey either….she seen the situation for what it was….that this girl was going off the deep end…and could probably take someone with her.
    I applaud the judge.

Well my thought is that her parents aren’t there for her the way they need to be. Yes they are leaches and shouldn’t be living vicariously through their daughter’s life. They should have intervened and helped the girl out when she started to spiral out of control. Had she received proper parental guidance, perhaps she wouldn’t be in this mess.

  • Johnny

Her mother gets into an argument over an ICE CREAM cake that she tryed to get for free and SHES givng parental thought??????? Please Dina needs the help!

  • Lolly

Dina Lohan is part of Lindsay’s problem. She should be in rehab herself for addiction to being on TV. At 19, Lindsay was an adult. If her mother had raised her right she wouldn’t have succumbed to the pitfall that she blames everyone else for other than herself. Secondly, she wasn’t there consorting with murderers, she was segregated from the general population and isolated 23 hours a day for 14 days. Dina makes it sound like Lindsay was treated like Nelson Mandela. Shame on you all for inviting her on and being part of the problem. Don’t we have more important things to talk about?

  • Disgusted

The courts need to issue a restraining order keeping Linsay’s mother away from her for a least a year. Her mother needs Lindsay to fuel her own adolescent behavior. If there is a restraining order it will be like Dina going into rehab because she will have no money to party. They both need alot of therapy and prayers.

  • WOW

Yes, the court system is very different in LA. You can get away with a lot that you can’t in NYC. If she was here, LiLo would had to serve 60 of her 90 sentence at Rikers Island, not 14 days. What does she think that we have it made in NYC. I wish LiLo lots of luck when she is out. Hopefully she will be clean for a long time.

  • JasonS

You mean there is still a chance for moi?

  • Rissa Lynn

East coast, west coast, she’ll never be anything more than a drug & alcohol abusing tramp!

  • Shirley Lindenhurst

    Thank Gaw-ud for white-trash news!
