NEW YORK (CBS 2) – Get out your baby name books, New York City.
The Prospect Park Zoo is welcoming two new baboons to their facilities and is soliciting name suggestions for the two male babies.
The new Hamadryas baboons are making their public debut on Friday.
Zoo director Denise McClean said staffers are beyond excited to greet the new additions, who were born in July.
“This is very exciting because these are the zoo’s first Hamadryas baboon births in six years and the first time we have had two infants at the same time,” she said. “Both mothers and babies are doing very well and are one big happy troop.”
Nominations for will be accepted for a period of about three weeks, starting on Tuesday and with a deadline of Sept. 22.
