Brooklyn Robbery Attempt Turns To Shootout, Carjacking

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (CBS 2) — There was chaos on the streets of Brooklyn Monday following a robbery attempt, shootout and carjacking.

Police say it began when a robber attempted a heist at an Apple Bank in Borough Park.

Witnesses say the suspect fired two shots into the ceiling of the bank and then tried to flee.

He was chased by members of the Shomrim neighborhood patrol.

The suspect then carjacked a woman and again tried to flee, but got stuck in traffic. The neighborhood patrol did not give up.

The suspect is being questioned by police.

No one was hurt in the shooting.
