Ex-Corrections Officer Pleads Not Guilty To Rape
NEW YORK (CBS 2) — A former Nassau County correction officer already accused of raping and sexually abusing female inmates pleaded not guilty to a new round of criminal charges.
Mark Barber, 48, of Levittown was arraigned on an 80-count indictment Tuesday.
The D.A. said Barber used his position as a grievance officer for the female prison population to pressure inmates into sexual relationships.
Barber allegedly targeted inmates with histories of drug abuse, prostitution, or mental health treatment.
