NYPD: Bound Woman Escapes Gunmen

NEW YORK (AP) -- Police said a woman who was tied up with tape and pushed into a closet by three armed men managed to free herself and escape but not before a man she had just met was killed.

Police said the 22-year-old woman was in the man's apartment at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday when the gunmen entered and demanded money from him.

Police said they found the body of Ladwan Brown shot in the head, sitting in a chair, his feet and hands bound.  They said the woman managed to chew through the tape and run out of the apartment, with the gunmen in pursuit.

She told police she escaped when someone offered her a ride.

Police said Brown apparently knew his assailants, who remain at large.
