B&C Show Blog & Audio: Another Mets Debacle

Bobby Dwyer

With NFL football so close you can practically taste it, the Vikings and the Saints kick-off the season tonight in New Orleans, Boomer was all kinds of fired-up this morning.  Unfortunately the Blonde Bomber was forced to put his excitement on hold while he and Craigie discussed the inexcusable acts displayed by Carlos Beltran, Luis Castillo and Oliver Perez on Tuesday when they chose to not accompany the rest of their Mets teammates on their team trip to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. It was disgraceful to say the least.

A story like that makes New Yorkers collectively say, 'Thank God for the Yankees' (TGFTY). Which is exactly what B&C did as they talked about the Bombers come-from-behind win yesterday afternoon in the Bronx over the Orioles.  Then Craig bragged about the New York Times writing an article about him and Boomer told us how he invited Neil Best to tag-along on a Monday night trip...

Jerry had a lot to cover during his first update of the day, beginning with the Yankees win and their decision to skip Phil Hughes' next scheduled start, which sparked a spirited debate on whether a young pitcher should be put on an innings limit or a pitch count limit.  Then we heard from a snippy Brandon Jacobs and had more on the Reggie Bush-Heisman saga…

Brian Billick is a former NFL head coach, leading the Baltimore Ravens to a win over the Giants in Super Bowl XXXV.  These days he is analyzing the game he once coached on the Fox network. He will be calling the Lion-Bears game this week.  This morning he joined B&C to kick-off this football Thursday edition of the Boomer & Carton Morning Extravaganza…

H.B.O.'s smash hit reality series Hard Knocks came to a conclusion last night and Craig enjoyed every minute, watching each episode a minimum of two times.  With that said, he did take a few things away from the five episodes that rubbed him the wrong way (surprise, surprise…).  First of all, he didn't like Rex Ryan pounding his chest claiming the team would move on as if Darrelle Revis was no longer a Jet and then he goes to his home and grovels.  He also thought that Mark Sanchez came across very immature, which made him wonder if he is ready to lead men this early in his career.  Boomer assured him that Sanchez's teammates love him and love playing with him…

Former New York Giant wide receiver Amani Toomer made the trip to Manhattan this morning to catch-up with Boomer & Craig and promote the fact that he has teamed up with Timex and will run in the New York City Marathon (Nov. 7th) on behalf of the New York Road Runners Youth Program.  Amani got things started by poking fun at Craig for his performance, or lack thereof, in the Great South Bay Triathlon back in June, where he finished last in his age group.  Then the guys asked him about his former teammate Plaxico Burress and his incident, as well as his memories of the Giants unforgettable win over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII and of course the upcoming season…
