Sanu Leads Rutgers Past Fla. International 19-14

MIAMI (AP) Mohamed Sanu threw for one touchdown and ran for another as Rutgers overcame sluggish all-around play to defeat Florida International 19-14 on Saturday night.

Sanu scored the game-winner with 13:07 left in the game. He lined up as the "wildcat" quarterback and rushed for a 24-yard score down his left side that erased a 14-13 FIU lead.

Sanu also threw a 24-yard touchdown to D.C. Jefferson on fourth-and-2 with 5:23 to go in the second quarter, giving the Scarlet Knights (2-0) a 10-7 lead.

Wesley Carroll debuted for the Golden Panthers (0-1). He threw an interception on the first play of the game but settled down and went 12-for-22 for 166 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

FIU had 371 yards total offense and held Rutgers to 172 yards, but the Panthers had five turnovers and tallied 14 penalties for 126 yards.
