After leaving Monday night’s game with a knee injury, Kris Jenkins received the worst possible news Tuesday when an MRI revealed a torn left ACL.

Head coach Rex Ryan made the official announcement at the start of his Tuesday press conference.

LISTEN: Coach Rex Ryan

It’s a huge loss for the Jets who will look to the likes of Sione Pouha and Mike DeVito to help fill the void.

Ryan added that Jenkins has not decided on his future and that a date for surgery has not been determined.

Some other notes from Ryan’s press conference…

*He watched the tape of Monday’s game and said there were a lot of positives in the loss, especially on the defensive side of the ball including Mike DeVito, Sione Pouha and Bryan Thomas.

*Ryan admitted that he was concerned about the Jets offense and would like to see the team take some more shots down the field.

*He said that bringing back WR Laveranues Coles is being considered.

*He wants to see Antonio Cromartie be more physical at the line of scrimmage after his abysmal performance on Monday night.

*Ryan confirmed that the NFL was at the complex Tuesday to conduct interviews as part of their investigation into Saturday’s incident with female reporter Ines Sainz.

The Jets return to practice on Wednesday. I’ll have more after their first day of preparation for Sunday’s game against the Patriots.
