Joe Namath Rips Lackluster Jets

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- How bad were the Jets on Monday night? Even Broadway Joe is hurling criticism at his former team.

New York legend Joe Namath spoke with the Post on Tuesday, ripping Gang Green's lackluster offensive effort against the Baltimore Ravens.

According to Namath, quarterback Mark Sanchez is not the only problem.

"This is not all on [Sanchez]. I know that he's doing everything that he's told to do -- or at least trying to do everything that he's told to do," Namath told the Post.

The former quarterback also ripped into wide receiver Braylon Edwards.

"[Edwards] can't catch the ball... or rarely does. He has as many drops as he does catches."

How about Namath's feelings on new left guard Matt Slauson?

"They need to get some spinach into Popeye at left guard and make him a stronger and better player," Namath said. "Otherwise it's gonna be a long season offensively."

Namath was active on Twitter during Monday night's game, not afraid to dish out criticism in real-time.

"The Jets abnormal amount of penalties in this game can be attributed to a disappointing lack of discipline," tweeted the irked legend.

Namath later posted, "The Jets are playing with a conservative play calling style, which falls on the shoulders of the coaches- the poor execution doesn't."
