One Of Leibovitz’s Iconic ‘John & Yoko’ Photos For Sale

NEW YORK (AP) — A photo that Annie Leibovitz took of John Lennon shortly before he was killed is going up for auction in New York City.

The photo was taken in December 1980 for Rolling Stone magazine. It shows Ono and her husband embracing while reclining.

It is not the famous photo on the cover featuring a nude Lennon with a clothed Yoko Ono.

It’s one of 40 copies and is expected to bring $10,000 to $15,000 at Swann Auction Galleries on Oct. 19.

The photo is being sold by a private collector and is not part of Leibovitz’s highly publicized settlement over her debts and rights to her own work.

Misleading — if it’s not the photo you posted along with the article, why post a photo at all? You have to read halfway down the story before you find out it’s NOT the picture accompanying the article!! Thanks for bamboozling everyone…

Iconic? Maybe iconic to the Lennon/Ono family, to the rest of the world: nuh-uh.

Maybe to you, it isn’t iconic, but to me and thousands of Lennon fans it is b/c this is the photo taken on his last day on earth.

He maybe nude but this was the last pic that was ever taken of John, so it is iconic.
