Reporting Rich Lamb

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg confirms he has only two pairs of work shoes for the past ten years.

LISTEN: WCBS 880′s Rich Lamb reports

WCBS 880′s Rich Lamb reports that His Honor says both pairs are black loafers. One pair is penny loafers. The other is loafers with a tassel.

Asked for more about his non-triple-E’s, his honor quipped, “I think, for security reasons, I really cannot talk about my shoes as to whether or not I have backup.”

The mayor has his loafers resoled and re-heeled and declared it’s fair to say he’s not the shoe industry’s best customer.

The mayor doesn’t walk as much as the rest of us. Once a month, when he takes the subway, he is driven to the entrance in an SUV.

Indeed. But you forgot to mention that when he get’s out of the bulletproof, bombproof SUV, he is carried down the stairs by 6 buff young ladies and only when the station alerts his driver and police escorts that there is a train either in the station , waiting for “Hizzonner”, or within 300 yards.
Before he boards , the cars are emptied of superfluous citizens by police with electric batons, in order that the mayor’s security not be endangered by close association with possibly infectious riff raff and Democrats.
When he has decided he has been aboard the train long enough for a photo-op, his girls carry him back upstairs. At the next stop he meets his waiting ride, which follows him everywhere he must “walk” in order to save his shoe leather and re-heeling costs.

Why he wears good old Endicott Johnson shoes which he bough a gross of as the company went out of business as a result of the sneaker boom. This is why he only has two kinds.
