NYC Pensions Online, Except For Cops, Firefighters

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) – The Empire Center for New York State Policy has posted online the benefits of more than 200,000 New York City government retirees and is suing the city after being denied the pension information for police and firefighters.

The database includes names, retirement dates and generally the most recent employer for the retirees, including municipal workers and teachers collecting city pension benefits as of Dec. 31.

The center is part of the fiscally conservative Manhattan Institute. It’s highlighting data on state, school district and municipal employees and retirees to show the cost to taxpayers.

The center has also sued to obtain City Council grant information.
