NEW YORK (WFAN) — Yankees manager Joe Girardi joined Mike Francesa on Thursday to discuss the red-hot AL East race, and George Steinbrenner’s new Yankee Stadium monument.
First up, Girardi’s thoughts on Monday night’s monument unveiling ceremony for George Steinbrenner.
“I thought it was wonderful… very tastefully done,” Girardi said. “There are a lot of emotions on a night like that, because we all miss him dearly.”

Francesa asked Girardi about the Yankees’ recent September slide.
“We went through a tough time on our last road trip, we’re playing tough teams, there’s no doubt about it,” said Girardi. “It’s been a tough road these last couple weeks, for sure.”
