Connecticut U.S. Senate Race Too Close To Call

HARTFORD, CT (AP / WCBS 880) - A new poll shows Democrat Richard Blumenthal's lead in Connecticut's U.S. Senate race over Republican Linda McMahon has evaporated to within the survey's margin of error.

LISTEN: WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reports

The Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday shows Blumenthal with a 49 percent to 46 percent lead over McMahon. The survey of 1,083 likely voters has a sampling margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

In a Quinnipiac poll of registered voters in January, Blumenthal's lead over McMahon was 41 points.

Blumenthal's campaign says it's confident of victory and criticized McMahon for spending millions to "whitewash her record'' and "tear down'' Blumenthal.

McMahon's campaign says the poll shows voters don't want to elect "another tax-and-spend career politician.''
