Shinnecocks Narrowing L.I. Casino Site Selections

HUNTINGTON, NY (WCBS 880) - Calling Long Island the best gaming market in the world, members of the Shinnecock gaming authority told the Long Island Real Estate Group that they've whittled down their preferred sites for as many as three casinos that they expect to open.

"Maybe one close to our homeland Shinnecock, another mid island, and another close to the New York City border. That would be the best world for the Shinnecock," spokesman Phil Brown told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.

Brown says it's too soon to identify site locations, and called legal challenges to their federal recognition more of a speed bump and not a stop sign.
