New Rochelle Church Catches Fire Twice In 9 Days

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- One New Rochelle church has certainly seen better days.

The Pentecostal House of Prayer on Webster Avenue is all boarded up -- parts of it charred. That's because the stone and brick house of worship caught fire, not once, but twice in nine days, WCBS 880's Catherine Cioffi reported.

First, the steeple was struck by lightening on September 22 and then electrical lines fell on the church early Friday morning. The fire was quickly put out, but not before damage was done to the vestibule.

Firefighters extinguished the flames around 5 a.m. after they rushed from the firehouse right around the corner from the church.
