Trick Play Leads Tulane Over Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) Joe Kemp scored on a 24-yard pass from wide receiver D.J. Banks on a third-quarter trick play and Tulane stunned Rutgers 17-14 on Saturday.

Payten Jason scored on a 2-yard run and Cairo Santos added a 39-yard field goal as the Green Wave (2-2) snapped a six-game road losing streak dating to last season. Alex Wacha iced the game with an interception in the final minute.

Rutgers' Mohamed Sanu scored on a school-record 91-yard run on a wildcat play, and caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from freshman Chas Dodd in the third quarter.

Rutgers starting quarterback Tom Savage, who came into the game with bruised ribs, was hurt late in the second quarter and did not play in the second half. The school did not disclose his injury.
