Bridge Fatality Causes Heavy NY-NJ Delays
NEW YORK (AP) -- A fatal accident on the George Washington Bridge closed the span's westbound lanes for two hours.
The bridge's operator, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, says one one-hour delays in both directions continued past Wednesday's morning rush.
The agency says a car collided with a truck at 5:20 a.m. on the westbound upper level.
The car driver was killed, and his passenger was injured. She was taken to Hackensack Medical Center. Her condition was not immediately known.
The agency says one westbound lane was reopened at 7:15 a.m. It said congestion was heavy eastbound because of rubbernecking.
