Conn. Veterans Memorial Fundraising At Halfway

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut state leaders say fundraising for $1.2 million memorial to honor state veterans has reached the halfway point.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell says they are launching a special fundraising drive for the remaining $600,000 by asking people to donate $1 each to honor a veteran or service member.

The names of honorees will appear on an “Honor Roll of Heroes” kiosk at the Connecticut State Veterans Memorial when it is built near the State Veterans Home in Rocky Hill.

The state armories in Hartford, Enfield, New London, Stratford and Waterbury will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 13 for people to drop off their $1 donations.

Contributions can also be sent to Connecticut State Veterans Memorial Inc. in care of Rockville Bank, P.O. Box 660, Vernon, CT, 06066.
