Now, after nearly four decades, she has more than just a picture. Danielle and her dad, John Watson, are together again – thanks to Facebook.

Watson, who is a Vietnam War veteran, was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) when he abandoned his wife and then 3-year-old Danielle 39 years ago.

The now 42-year-old Petratos said that she forgives her father. The Manhasset mom is choosing to look ahead.

Watson credits Buddhism and the internet with helping him prepare for and, finally locate, his long-lost child.

I can’t believe there are people out there who don’t believe PTSD is an actual problem. If you have ever known someone with it, you would become a!

i am sorry this man went through such a horrible experience. However, I don’t think that is a reason to have no relationship with your child. Maybe its difficult to raise his child, but to have no feelings about wanting to know who is daughter is. There will always be an excuse for peoples’ behaviors. many criminals will also give excuses that they suffered from post traumatic problrms. i am glad the father finally saw his daughter. I am also impressed the daughter was OK with this.

Thank God PTSD is now acceptable for Vietnam veterans; now that politicians and murderers use it for an excuse, it’s OK.

Mr. Watson, I sympathize with you. Don’t allow the media to make you look like a bad guy. Thank you for serving with me.

Not too sure on the Buddhism gig though!

PS: I hope my X-wife doesn’t find me via Facebook!
