Biden In NYC Says Democrats Will Hold House, Senate

NEW YORK (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden campaigning in New York City says he expects Democrats to hold onto both the House and Senate in next week's midterm elections.

Biden stopped by a phone bank Tuesday where about 75 volunteers were making calls for Democratic Congressional candidates. Even in reliably "blue" state New York, as many as 8 House Democratic incumbents are believed to be vulnerable.

Many analysts predict Republicans will win more than the 39 seats necessary to take the House. Biden urged volunteers to "ignore the pundits" and work on voter turnout instead.

He says he understands voter anger and uncertainty about the economy, but says the Obama Administration and Democratic Congress has made progress in getting the economy back on track.
