TEANECK, N.J. (CBS 2) — Mourners will gather in Teaneck, N.J., on Thursday to pay their respects to a police officer who died on the job.

Teaneck Police Officer John Abraham was working a double shift early Monday morning when his patrol car slammed into a telephone pole outside police headquarters.

He was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.

Just hours earlier, Officer Abraham had saved the life of a man who was choking at a nearby restaurant.

He will be laid to rest Saturday.
