Convicted L.I. Adoption Scammer Faces 92 Years

ROSLYN, N.Y. (CBS 2) — A Long Island lawyer was found guilty of running an adoption scam described by the Nassau County District Attorney as  unconscionable.

Kevin Cohen, 42, of Roslyn was convicted of grand larceny for stealing more than $300,000 from prospective adoptive parents.

Prosecutors said Cohen scammed hopeful couples with fake sonograms, promising them babies that did not exist.

He also used phony records on forged stationary from hospitals and doctors.

Cohen faces up to 92 years in prison when he’s sentenced in December.

I actually know these people. And, as a matter of fact, he did produce 2 children himself. I really feel for those children. This is a very sad situation. Sad that Cohen had so much already and still felt that it wasn’t enough. Sad that he felt that he had to do this to people. And sad for those people that he has hurt so deeply, including his own children.

The story here is to work with a licensed, experienced adoption lawyer. Make sure they are members of state & national adoption adoption groups and have clean ethics records!

This actually is not funny, This guy was a Lawyer, smart enough to pass the bar but dumb as a bucket of rocks. Did he really think that he would not get caught. What an idiot. Hopefully he did not produce any idiot kids himself.
