WCBS 880's Catherine Cioffi reports
The 29-year-old who beat out Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef for the job representing the 38th District says it doesn't bother him that his young age is such a topic.
"I think it's a compliment," Carlucci told WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi. He sees his age as a positive, not a negative.
Carlucci has been Clarkstown Town Clerk since 2006 and while he is young, he says going to Albany to work as a New York State Senator is exactly what he wants to do.
"The status quo isn't working. We can't send the same type of thinking up in Albany because we will have the same results," says Carlucci.
He says it is time for a little freshness, something that a 29-year-old can bring to Albany.
Here are the election results:
David Carlucci (D) - 49,491 - 53 percent
C. Scott Vanderhoef (R) - 43,587 - 47 percent
