NYPD Officer Sues City Over Video Clip

NEW YORK (CBS 2) — An embarrassing video clip has a New York City police officer suing the city he works for.

Last summer, Agent Daniel Chu was spotted speeding through a Queens neighborhood with emergency lights flashing as he drove to a Dunkin Donuts. He then ticketed city Councilman Daniel Halloran, who took pictures of the incident.

Chu has now filed a slander and libel claim, accusing the councilman of making “maliciously false reports.”

Can Mr. Halloran dispute my ticket, too? I got a ticket from corona from different agent. Is it possible for him to put it on the news for me too? The agent didn’t give me courtesy. I went into a store to get a change for the meter and still, the agent issue me the ticket.

I have a question for the news team as well. How can they make annoucement on tv, as if everything they are reporting on the news is true? Everything they said on tv seems to be from Mr. Halloran’s statements only. The recording, a photos..it’s all about traffic agent did this, did that…but where is the original recording without being cut or edited? Plus, Mr.Halloran needs to pay his tickets and stop making a big deal out of it. He needs to understand that he isn’t the only one ever received a ticket, unless he is doing this because he doesn’t want to pay his ticket.

I have a question. Why people so much against traffic agent? How about Mr.Halloran? Unless you guys are also being hired by Mr.Halloran.
This is wrong. You can’t judge people unless you know the truth.
did you see the latest youtube for chu halloran? In the begining I though officer chu was the bad guy. but when I saw the recent youtube, I noticed someting isn’t right. I can tell this is all Mr.Haloran’s scenario. I think Mr.Halloran is the abusing his power. Just think about it. who has more power to abuse it.

Not surprised, traffic agents are amongst the biggest degenerates around. Just take a good look at any one of them, not to mention what they do for a living.

Donut boy should have a ‘boot’ attached to his head, then be tossed into the river, along with his “lawyer”.

poeple having trouble understanding what comes after what, and there is a cause and result..wthout knowing what’s for sure.. never to judge anybody with your own personal opinion. I’m white, but I never treat or judge anyone for any reason. Why can’t people think more carefully before the statements they want to make….If you put this situtation in your shoe, and others start talking to you nesty or not even try to isten to you word, how would you feel? Of course, it hurts. So try to think more…

He had no authority that carries open case handcuff on his belt in uniofrom when he was on duty and he should not be a stupid to file a law suit to suit the city for his meal with flashing emergency light and he should be dismissed from the force no matter what he was in. It is a disgrace that he did that with the uniform of nypd. If you abuseed the law that he is suppose to protect and enforce, he should not be in that unifrom.

    • Jason

you must not live in NY because you obviously have no clue how NYPD officers conduct themselves while driving in police cars

  • Jim.

A traffic agents is NOT a cop. Give me a break.

  • CSI

Well lets face it. Speeding to a dunkin donuts is pretty funny. Two million are you serious.

  • Joe P.

This is NOT a police officer. He is a traffic/parking enforcement agent, which is a civilian member employee of the police department. Get your reporting facts correct.

    • davis

traffic agent is employee for nypd and the parking agent is not for nypd, it is for the department of transportation. Even that, he should not abuse the power and authority that he has on himself. Period! Such as disgrace action that flash emergency to get a cold coffee in dount shoop. No one above the law and dont commit a crime if u can not do the time!

  • joe k

Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time

they must have had hot donuts coming out, they do that here in new orleans too, i have seen them speeding with lights on and drive to the drive thru at crispy cream donuts here. its no big deal, when you need a cop, dont call 911, call your local donut shop.
