Wife Says NY Mayor Frightened Her With Roach

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) -- The wife of a suburban New York mayor said he once placed a large caged cockroach against her face to frighten her after a fight.

Fumiko Bradley testified Wednesday against Democratic White Plains Mayor Adam Bradley, who was charged with slamming a door on her fingers and other crimes. He has pleaded not guilty.

Bradley said her husband once brought a Madagascar hissing cockroach home from the Bronx Zoo as a pet. She said she had a phobia about the roach and once, after a fight, Adam Bradley put the cockroach cage against her face.

She said she was scared and upset not just by the cockroach but also by the fact her husband did it knowing how much she hated it.

The Bradleys are divorcing after seven years of marriage. They have two daughters.
