1. Boise State (9-0): The Broncos made quick work of Idaho, embarrassing the Vandals 52-14. They remain the best team in the land, although the loss of middle linebacker Byron Hout for the rest of the season (broken foot) will certainly hurt… This week: Fresno State

2. Oregon (10-0): The Ducks survived a major scare in their 15-13 victory over California. For the first time all season their explosive offense was kept in check, but it was encouraging to see the defense pick up the slack and hold tight… This week: Bye

3. Auburn (11-0): The Tigers recovered from a slow start and a 21-7 first quarter deficit to blow away a good Georgia team 49-31. Cam Newton played well amidst all the off the field controversy – the defense however continues to have hiccups… This week: Bye

4. TCU (11-0): The Horned Frogs were slow out of the gates as well. They faced a rare deficit against San Diego State, but showed resiliency and toughness mounting a comeback and holding on to a tight 40-35 win… This week: Bye

5. Wisconsin (9-1): The Badgers showed no mercy in their 83-20 thrashing of Indiana. People don’t like the fact that they so aggressive in the fourth quarter, scoring 24 points – but the NCAA brought this on themselves. With the BCS computer system you have to score as many points as possible and win by as much as possible to pick up points. Can’t blame Bret Bielema… This week: @ Michigan

6. Stanford (9-1): Much like fellow conference mate Oregon, Stanford had to survive a big scare – for them against a mediocre Arizona State team. Andrew Luck was solid once again and led a decisive fourth quarter scoring drive which put the Cardinal up for good as they snuck past the Sun Devils 17-13… This week: @ California

7. LSU (9-1): The Tigers did exactly what you’d expect them to do to Louisiana-Monroe – kill them 51-0. LSU was sharp on both sides of the ball, but saw themselves eliminated for the SEC West title thanks to Auburn’s victory over Georgia… This week: Mississippi

8. Ohio State (9-1): The Buckeyes were in a little trouble early on against Penn State, but they recovered nicely and dominated the second half – outscoring the Nittany Lions 35-0 en route to an impressive 38-14 win… This week: @ Iowa

9. Michigan State (9-1): The Spartans were one of the biggest winners of the week and they didn’t even play a game! With Iowa’s loss to Northwestern, the Big 10 title is race is now down to Wisconsin, Ohio State and these Spartans… This week: Purdue

10. Alabama (8-2): The Tide regained their old dominant form this week against what was a red-hot Mississippi State team. ‘Bama jumped all over the Bulldogs in the 30-10 thrashing. Unfortunately for them, the SEC West is already decided… This week: Georgia State
