Psychiatric Defense Planned In Stabbing Of LI Boy

MINEOLA, NY (AP / WCBS 880) – An attorney plans a psychiatric defense for a New York man accused of repeatedly stabbing an 8-year-old boy playing video games at a restaurant arcade.

WCBS 880’s Sophia Hall reports

Evan Sachs pleaded not guilty Friday to attempted murder, assault and weapon possession. He is accused of stabbing the boy five times during a random attack on Oct. 8.

The boy, who has not been identified, has since recovered.

Police say Sachs, a 23-year-old movie theater usher, had been stalking potential victims at area malls. He was arrested moments after the stabbing.

Attorney Eric Sachs, who is not related to the defendant, says his client was being treated for a psychiatric disorder when the stabbing occurred.

Evan Sachs is being held without bail. He is due back in court Dec. 7.

Lawyer: “Let’s try something….let’s say he was crazy and he didn’t know what he was doing when he stalked young children and stabbed one 5 times. Let’s get him all the help he needs so he won’t do it again”. His Mommy: “It was an aberration of his illness”. This is sickening. Lock up that nutcase permanently.

And you think it is bad now ? Wait until the republicans start cutting the budget!

Why not put all the psychotics in a room with baseball bats, leave them unsupervised for a few, dump the remains into a landfill. Done.

  4. Diane says:

Why do they keep trying to put a band aid on a gun shot. They allow this really sick people to walk the streets until they kill someone
