NEW YORK (CBS 2) – A cup of coffee never tasted so good as it did for one man from Queens who won $2,000 a week for life.

Scott Margolin thanked his taste for French Vanilla coffee for his windfall.

Last month, the Bayside resident and a friend decided to go to the Bell Boulevard 7-11 to get a cup, along with their scratch off lottery tickets.

“We kind of come down. It’s coffee time so we come to 7-11,” Margolin said. “We were just having fun playing it. It wasn’t about, I never thought I’d win like this.”

Margolin was guaranteed to get $2 million, paid out in increments over the next 20 years.

After that, he’ll continue to get payments for the rest of his life.

Thst’s about $65,000 after taxes per year. Comfortable, but don’t go wild.

The big lotto winners are always in the NYC area. They never have any big winners in my neck of the woods (Oswego County, just north of Syracuse). The lotto is rigged.

    @C.J.
Think you have to go public, believe in the small print of all the tickets and Lotto stubs it says you have to release your name and Likeness to receive your prize, if you refuse you forfeit your prize and by submitting the winning ticket to be payed out you have accepted the terms. Now I don’t think he is required to do a TV spot and hold a silly giant scratch off ticket, just have a picture taken and your name.

Now he can purchase fancy advertising blocking electronics so he won’t have to listen to the 1-877-Kars-for-Kids singer on WINS.

    • Danny

Yeah. That Kars-for -Kids commercial really sucks.
It makes me want to take the news station off my presets.
      I find it annoying.
Also, probably about 3% of the cars value really gets to “the kids.”

Good for you! Use it well and diversify, diversify, diversify! Now watch how many new found “relatives” start appearing. Hope there is another one of those winning tix floating around the city somewhere!

Is that before or after taxes?

    • Michael H.

$2000 a week before taxes. he’ll probably get a weekly check for around 1200-1300, which is nice and comfortable for most people. supplement with a job you can actually enjoy and you’ve got yourself a very stress free lifestyle.

  • C.J.

    I wouldn”t go public.
