NEW YORK (AP) — An early morning shooting outside a Long Island birthday party left a teenager dead and two other men with injuries.
Police said the three were standing outside on Ackerman Avenue in Central Islip around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the shots were fired.
Seventeen-year-old Eugene Smith of Brooklyn was shot in the back. Police said he was taken to Southside Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The two other men, a 19-year-old and a 24-year-old both from Long Island, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
