Indian Point Nuclear Plant Back Online

BUCHANAN, N.Y. (AP) -- A nuclear power plant north of New York City is operating again after being shut down by a transformer explosion earlier this month.

The plant owner, Entergy Corp., said Indian Point 2 went online Wednesday morning.

It said the Nov. 7 blast was due to a failed high voltage bushing. Bushings connect the transformer to the overhead lines that carry electricity to the main electrical grid.

The plant automatically shut down following the explosion. No one was injured.

Indian Point 3 continued to operate normally.

The power plant is 24 miles north of the city.
