YONKERS, NY (WCBS 880) - The Cross County Shopping Center opened in 1954.
WCBS 880′s Catherine Cioffi reports
So many from the area spent their younger years walking around this open-air mall that once had a Woolworth’s and a Stern’s.
Today, you would never recognize it. It’s modern, and maybe even a little exotic.
“We’re trying to keep our regular customers happy and just kind of re-engage people who haven’t been here in a long time,” the mall’s Liz Pollack told WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi.
Pollack says they’ve spent about $250 million revitalizing the center, and they now have stores like Armani Exchange and Guess.
“[They are] what we call aspirational luxury retailers,” said Pollack “So that we can re-engage the central Westchester customer.”
The Cross County Shopping Center is located at 8000 Mall Walk, Yonkers, NY 10704.
