Study Highlights Exercises That May Help Diabetics

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- Doing a combination of exercises has been found to help lower blood sugar for diabetics.

According to a new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, mixing aerobic workouts, which burn blood sugar in the muscles, with weight training was found to be most effective.

Researchers were testing exercise programs that doctors could realistically recommend and that patients could stick with.

Participants in the research  exercised three days a week for about 45 minutes each session.
