More Charges For Driver In Fatal Crash Near Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. (AP) -- A grand jury has indicted an upstate New York man on a vehicular manslaughter charge in addition to other charges he faces for a crash that killed a 22-year-old woman earlier this month.

The Chemung County grand jury this week added the charge to the initial manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident charges filed against Joseph Upham of Elmira for the November 15th crash in Millport.

State police said the 24-year-old Upham was driving around 100 miles an hour when he crashed his car into a house, killing his passenger -- 22-year-old Kaylah Morse of Painted Post.

Upham fled the scene and wasn't found by police until the next day.

He's being held in Chemung County Jail pending an arraignment scheduled for Monday morning.
