Jockey Hurt, Horse Euthanized In Aqueduct Spill
NEW YORK (AP) -- A jockey was hospitalized and a horse was put down after a spill in Saturday's third race at Aqueduct.
Jason Gracia was rushed to the intensive care unit at Jamaica Hospital for treatment of a concussion. Jose Bermudez, also involved, had testing for sore ribs.
Ryan and Jack stumbled and fell on the far turn, throwing Gracia to the turf. October Dreams collided with Ryan and Jack as he was on the ground, unseating Bermudez.
Ryan and Jack, a 4-year-old gelding, suffered a skull fracture and was euthanized. October Dreams appeared to be uninjured.
