Man Charged In Fatal Hudson Valley Party Beating

NEWBURGH, NY (AP) – Authorities have charged a 25-year-old Hudson Valley man in the death of a man who was beaten with a baseball bat during a fight at a birthday party.

Police in the town of Newburgh charged Rodney Bethea of the city of Newburgh with second-degree murder Sunday.

Police say Bethea and 29-year-old Eddie Gordon of the city of Newburgh got into a fight inside a home where a birthday party was being held Saturday night. Officers say the brawl spilled outside, where Gordon was hit several times in the head with a bat.

Gordon was taken to a Newburgh hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Bethea is being held in Orange County Jail without bail. It couldn’t be determined if he had a lawyer.

Eddie was my brother and regardless of what they argued over (which was stupid), he didn’t deserve to die that way! R.I.P Eddie

I say we arm all Newburgh residents with baseball bats … That should get rid of half the problem there.

I bet you would not feel the same if it was your brother or father. Think before you say something ignorant again because nobody deserves to die like that.

    another senseless, stupid act

People younger than 40 are dying in disproportions due to stupidity, lack of focus/vision, and anger.
