Man Charged In Fatal Hudson Valley Party Beating
NEWBURGH, NY (AP) - Authorities have charged a 25-year-old Hudson Valley man in the death of a man who was beaten with a baseball bat during a fight at a birthday party.
Police in the town of Newburgh charged Rodney Bethea of the city of Newburgh with second-degree murder Sunday.
Police say Bethea and 29-year-old Eddie Gordon of the city of Newburgh got into a fight inside a home where a birthday party was being held Saturday night. Officers say the brawl spilled outside, where Gordon was hit several times in the head with a bat.
Gordon was taken to a Newburgh hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Bethea is being held in Orange County Jail without bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
