BALDWIN, N.Y. (AP) – Approximately 150 students at the Schubert Elementary School on Long Island were enjoying an unexpected day off after a fire damaged a school annex.

The blaze early Thursday morning damaged an annex used as a lunch room and music room at the school in Baldwin. There were no injuries.

The Nassau County fire marshal said the fire was under investigation, but was not considered suspicious.

Classes were cancelled because of a lingering smoke odor. Students are expected back on Friday.
