Jersey City has proposed laying off 89 members of its police department, including 82 officers.
However, the lines of communication between Mayor Jerramiah Healy, the city, and the union have apparently reopened.
Healy is holding off on sending a layoff notice to the state.
On Tuesday, Newark let go 167 officers.
