While the Mets explore their options, including listening to offers for Carlos Beltran and Francisco Rodriguez, they continue to search for the cost-effective solutions for 2011. The Mets insist they will be spenders again in the near future, this just isn’t the time to do it. Even if the Mets don’t move, say, Carlos Beltran this winter…he’s still a guy that can have significant value next July if he comes back healthy. It will also be that much less money for the Mets to hand off or eat themselves. Might the same be true for Oliver Perez, Luis Castillo, or K-Rod??
