TNT’s NBA Studio Trio Finally Returning To MSG
NEW YORK (AP) — TNT is finally coming back to Madison Square Garden, and bringing along its studio team and some other familiar faces.
The network will televise the New York Knicks’ game against Miami on Jan. 27, and said Wednesday that its studio trio of Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson will make the trip and unveil the starters for the NBA All-Star game during the live pregame show.
TNT hasn’t aired a game from MSG since Jan. 19, 2006, a 105-79 Knicks loss to Detroit.
Marv Albert, the longtime radio and TV voice of the Knicks, will call the game along with former Pacers All-Star Reggie Miller, who enjoyed some of his best moments at MSG, and Steve Kerr.
The studio team also will broadcast live as part of its Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day coverage when the Lakers host Oklahoma City on Jan. 17. Though it usually only travels in the postseason, it went on the road this season for Miami’s opening-night game in Boston, and LeBron James’ return to Cleveland last week.
