The new underground walkway links the A, C and F lines at Jay Street/Borough Hall with the R line at Lawrence Street-Metrotech.

It’s a 175-foot passageway that is part of a larger $164 million complete renovation of the Jay Street station.

The new passageway means riders won’t have to walk a block above ground in the cold to Lawrence Street. It also makes life a lot easier for the disabled because of new elevators.

It’s expected that 35,000 daily riders will use this passageway each weekday and they are grateful.

“It’s a great idea because as the weather gets colder, it helps to be underground where there is some kind of heat,” said subway rider Quincy Arrindell.

“It’s an easy transfer. It’s convenient for people,” added rider Jack Kanhai.
