M.E. Rules Madoff Son’s Apartment Death Suicide

NEW YORK (CBS 2/AP) – The hanging death of jailed financier Bernard Madoff’s eldest son in New York City has formally been ruled a suicide.

The cause of death for 46-year-old Mark Madoff was released Sunday by the city’s medical examiner’s office.

Madoff was found hanged early Saturday morning inside his Soho loft while his 2-year-old son slept nearby.

Investigators said Madoff’s father-in-law found him with a dog leash around his neck hanging from a pipe.

Mark Madoff had been the subject of further investigation, but he had not been charged with any crime.

It was the second anniversary of the day his father was arrested in the worst investment fraud in American history.

Sources said his father’s scandal left his family, especially his eldest son, broken.

“It’s been a terrible life and he had no apparent hope of his life getting any better,” said Andrew Kirtzman, author of “Betrayal.”

Mark Madoff’s death came on the second anniversary of his father’s arrest.

With Bernie out of the way investors can sleep well at night knowing that their money is now safe and in honest hands. But Cynics claim that the Devil rules and 99% would do what Bernie did if they thought they would get away with it. Let us pray that God watches over our investments and keeps those 99% out of Wall Street.

The real professionals know how to make a murder look like a suicide with no evidence to the contrary.

The list of people who would want to take a shot at Madoff (father, son, wife, etc) must be a mile long.

You have to figure there was probably some “mafia money” lost … those boys would not take lightly to losing money. This may have been a message or simply the closest they could get to Bernie.

Then again, maybe Mark was gonna snitch on someone else and that party got to Mark before he snitched.

The possibilities are endless, but it is interesting to speculate.

Like Mel said, I wonder how Bernie took the news. Anything to add to his torment is a good thing. Wonder how Ruth took the news too. She knew the score, so no sympathy for her.

The only one I feel bad for is the 2 year old boy.

Once a person loses the protection of their good name, they are open to becoming the victim of an unsolved murder or faked suicide.

    Like I said yesterday…..STILL … 4 MORE TO GO !!!!!! or GET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I guess this may not have been a suicide … interesting … opens some fascinating possibilities.

So who would have motive to kill him & make it look like a suicide? Lots of people lost money with Madoff … both good & evil people … so maybe revenge? Or maybe Mark had info that someone didn’t want getting out?

We will have to stay tuned on this one!

Hey, does anyone know how Bernie reacted upon hearing the news?
