NJ Cop's Wife Charged After Allegedly Trying To Run Him Over

NUTLEY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- The wife of former Nutley police officer Anthony Kulzy has been charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly ran him down with the family car on Sunday.

With his right leg in a cast and his head still foggy, Kulzy is now at home recovering. Kulzy and his wife, Heather, reportedly got into an argument leading up to the incident.

Frank Costanza saw his best friend thrown over a row of trees onto his neighbor's walkway and knocked unconscious.

"I thought he was dead. I was freaking out, I didn't know what to do...I've never seen that happen before," Costanza told 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg, "it's like something in a movie."

Kulzy resigned from the force two weeks ago for personal reasons.

Witnesses said Heather Kulzy got behind the wheel of the Kia automobile, backed up into her neighbor's driveway across the street and before hitting the gas yelled 'I'm going to kill you.'

"And I yelled 'Ant' and I was going to try to run to push him out of the way, but if I did that, I would have got pinned into there," Costanza said describing the incident to Sandberg.

"She smashed the car -- the airbags came out and everything," he said.
