5 Flee Burning Home In South Jersey

DENNIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- State police said five people escaped serious injuries when their home caught fire in southern New Jersey.

Authorities found smoke and flames when they arrived at the home at 156 Broad Street in Dennis Township at 12:42 a.m. Thursday.

State police said the five had fled the home and were taken to hospitals for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The Cape May fire marshal believes the cause of the fire was electrical.

The investigation was ongoing.
