WCBS 880′s Sean Adams reports

“It was emotional mayhem. It was wonderful. It was chaos, but the most wonderful kind you could imagine,” said chorus director Gregg Breinberg of Thursday’s announcement. “They just barreled into me and hugged me… It was one of the most gratifying moments in my career.”

10-year-old Sarah Viega couldn’t believe it. “The moment keeps playing again, and again and again and again and again,” Viega told 1010 WINS reporter Steve Sandberg.

Principal Melissa Donath said, “What an opportunity for these children! I mean, it’s just, it’s unbelievable. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime.”

The P.S. 22 chorus is a YouTube sensation.

They’ve performed for Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Stevie Nicks, and the President.

The Oscars contacted them and co-host Hathaway admits, she’s been a fan for two years.

The 83rd Academy Awards will be held on February 27 and co-hosted by actor James Franco.
